Community Education Counsellor (CEC)

​The Community Education Counsellor (CEC) works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families by:

  • ensuring that the educational, social, emotional and cultural needs of students are met
  • mentoring students
  • counselling students
  • assisting with crises, family problems and school issues
  • advocating on the behalf of students
  • liaising between school and home
  • conducting home visits
  • monitoring student attendance at school
  • providing individual parent/carer support
  • promoting cultural awareness in the school community
  • providing information regarding social and cultural protocols to the school community.
