Guidance Officer (GO)

 

The Guidance Officer (GO) 7-12:

  • Provides guidance and counselling to students and their families

  • Identifies factors that can be barriers to learning and development

  • Plans or assists in planning individual support programs; and supports personnel, family, other specialists or professionals from other agencies depending on the issues to be resolved and the age of the student

  • Assists with career planning

  • Provides course information and subject selection

  • Assists with QTAC, university/tertiary programs; and study skills

  • Provides personal and group counselling for students, families and staff

  • Case manages individual students

  • Assists with assessment and reporting of students with special needs

  • Provides behaviour management advice and planning to staff

  • Connects students with external support services
