The inaugural Local Community Education Body (LCEB) was formed in 2021 to assist with the design of the Indigenous Girls' Group for our Secondary sector, and to be an advisory group for the College.
The LCEB is chaired by Gimuy Walubarra Yidjini Traditional Owner Mr Neville Reys, with the College Principal as the co-chair.
The Yaburu Bulmba Indigenous Girls' Program started in 2022 and aims to improve C and above data, reduce suspensions, increase retention and Year 12 completion, and improve attendance. We have a long established and very successful Clontarf Academy in the College, complimenting the program.
James Cook University's Professor Martin Nakata has been a guest collaborator. He has worked with our College Leadership Team and the LCEB to present his research into developing learner identities, and to help establish the Indigenous Girls' Program.
