Senior Secondary Certificate
In Queensland, Senior Secondary students work towards the attainment of either the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA). More information is available on the Department of Education website.
Senior Secondary Assessment and Tertiary Entrance Systems
A new Senior assessment system (known as the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system) and a new tertiary entrance system commenced in 2019 for Queensland students who entered Year 11. More information is available on the
Department of Education website.
The new systems comprise:
- a new Senior assessment model that combines school-based assessment with external assessment together with new processes to strengthen the quality and comparability of school-based assessment
- the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)—the replacement of the Overall Position (OP) tertiary rank.
