HPE Excellence
Selected students in Years 8 and 9 have the opportunity to access the highest quality sports development in before-school HPE Excellence classes.
Rugby League Academy
The Rugby League Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-10 HPE curriculum and Senior curriculum study. The students participate in different competitions throughout the year as well as in class and afternoon training sessions. As much as we look at the skill development of the students, we are also trying to help their off-field behaviours and develop them into young adults.
Netball Academy
The Netball Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-9 HPE curriculum and also provides opportunity for Netball development and competitions for Years 10-12. Students develop both physically and personally through the sport of Netball, upholding the philosophies 'Developing the Person and the Player' and 'Keeping Girls in Sport'.
Football Academy
The Football Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-9 HPE curriculum and also provides opportunity for Football competitions for Years 10-12. In the Football Academy, we closely follow the Football Federation Australia (FFA) National Curriculum. Students develop mental as well as physical characteristics and practice sessions are structured to suit the specific age group and skill level. Above all, students learn how to play 'The World Game', with a focus on respect and sportsmanship.
Representative Sport
Annual Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals are held in the Primary and Secondary Sectors. Students are placed in one of four Houses that are named after local reefs – the Arlington Marlins (blue), the Euston Tiger Sharks (yellow), the Onyx Octopuses (red) and Upolu Crocodiles (green).
Students may qualify to represent the College at the Trinity Coast South (TCS) trials in Swimming, Cross Country, Track and Field and many other sports. If selected in the TCS team, students then compete to be selected in Peninsula teams to compete at State trials. From there students can make the Queensland team to compete at Nationals.
Brisbane Roar Football Club Skills Training Centre
The Brisbane Roar Football Club (FC) Skills Training Centre program for 9-13 year-olds is an exciting new partnership with Bentley Park College and Southside Comets FC.
Bentley Park College will be working with the Brisbane Roar FC technical department to develop a Football School of Excellence in the future.
