Netball Academy

The Netball Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-9 HPE curriculum and also provides opportunity for Netball development and competitions for Years 10-12. Students develop both physically and personally through the sport of Netball, upholding the philosophies ‘Developing the Person and the Player’ and ‘Keeping Girls in Sport’.

Rugby League Academy

The Rugby League Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-10 HPE curriculum and in Senior curriculum study. Recreation studies. The students participate in different competitions throughout the year as well as in class and afternoon training sessions. As much as we look at the skill development of the students we are also trying to help their off-field behaviours and develop them into young adults.

Football Academy

A new addition to the Bentley Park Sports Academy is the Football Academy. Boys and girls have participated in competitions around Cairns such as the Bill Turner Cup and the Bill Turner Trophy; and the Year 7/8 girls and Year 7/8 boys teams were both victorious at the 2023 Smithfield State High School Futsal Gala Day.

HPE Excellence

Selected students in Years 8 and 9 have the opportunity to access the highest quality sports development in before-school HPE Excellence classes.

Interhouse Sport

Annual Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals are held in the Primary and Secondary Sectors. Students are placed in one of four Houses that are named after local reefs.

Students are placed in one of four sports houses that are named after local reefs - Arlington, Euston, Onyx and Upolu.
