The Bentley Buliyr is the College sports mascot. The Buliyir is a white breasted sea eagle (Haliaetus leucogaster).
Annual sporting events for all students include Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals. The College has four sports houses named after local reefs with sea creature mascots – the Arlington Marlins (blue), the Euston Tiger Sharks (yellow), the Onyx Octopuses (red) and the Upolu Crocodiles (green).
Students aged 10 and up also have the opportunity to trial for Trinity Coast South (TCS) district sports teams, which can lead to Peninsula, State and National representation.
The College also has relationships with many community sporting groups to provide links to both on-campus and off-campus sporting opportunities.
Other sporting opportunities are provided through the Enrichment@Bentley program and events such as Gala Sports Days and regional competitions.

Sports AcademyThe Bentley Park College Sports Academy comprises Women in Sport Academy, the Rugby League Academy and the Football Academy, which links to Southside Comets FC. The advantage of a P-12 College is that all students have access to specialist teachers and coaches in these areas.
Women in Sport AcademyThe Women in Sport Academy comprises Netball and Rugby League and runs in conjunction with the Year 7-10 HPE curriculum. It also provides opportunity for development and competitions for Years 10-12. Students develop both physically and personally through sport, upholding the philosophies ‘Developing the Person and the Player’ and ‘Keeping Girls in Sport’.
Rugby League Academy
The Rugby League Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-10 HPE curriculum and in Senior curriculum study. The students participate in different competitions throughout the year as well as in class and afternoon training sessions. As much as we look at the skill development of the students we are also trying to help their off-field behaviours and develop them into young adults.
Football Academy
The Football Academy runs in conjunction with the Year 7-10 HPE curriculum and also provides opportunity for Football competitions for Years 11-12. In the Football Academy, we closely follow the Football Federation Australia (FFA) National Curriculum. Students develop mental as well as physical characteristics and practice sessions are structured to suit the specific age group and skill level. Above all, students learn how to play 'The World Game', with a focus on respect and sportsmanship.
Sports Training Precinct
The Queensland Government have proudly funded a new $3.975 million Sports Training Precinct for Bentley Park College, as part of their ‘Go for Gold’ funding in the lead up to the Brisbane Olympic Games in 2032.
The facility will service our Sports Academy, which comprises the Rugby League, Netball and Football Academies and HPE Excellence Program, as well as community groups from the whole south Cairns area.
The Precinct will comprise a gym, two change rooms, a meeting room, canteen, store room and bathrooms. We greatly look forward to construction commencing in the near future.
