School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN)

The School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) addresses concerns or problems about health and wellbeing by providing information and counselling on:

  • sexual health
  • drugs
  • alcohol
  • smoking
  • emotional issues
  • stress
  • personal and family problems
  • bullying
  • relationships
  • adolescent growth and development
  • health eating, weight and exercise
  • eneral health concernseneral health concerns.

The SBYHN also:

  • conducts mental health assessments
  • coordinates the anti-bullying team
  • provides curriculum advice
  • presents workshops to classes
  • facilitates the 'Helping Friends' Program
  • assists with 'Be Me' and 'School’s Out' Programs
  • assists with vaccinations
  • connects students with external support services.
