AR Curriculum-Aligned Modules

WebPartZone1_1
Technology is a major factor in today’s world.  Used across a wide spectrum of contexts and purposes, it has opened up new ways to communicate, entertain, socialise, inform and now, to teach and to learn. Research shows that students embrace the use of digital technology as a natural part of their world, using it with enthusiasm and skill. The use of the Augmented Reality as a three-dimensional learning tool is a wonderful addition to our digital educational toolbox, providing students with a new pathway to learning and for teachers, access to new ways developing the curriculum and learning activities.

Music - Tone

vrlearningdesign-ffleet.jpg

Transform your classroom into a musical canvas with this innovative app. By filling virtual bottles with water, students embark on a dynamic journey where creativity seamlessly blends with technology. Delve into tones, melodies, and harmonies in an interactive and engaging manner, unveiling the sheer joy of crafting your own tunes at your fingertips..

Light

vrlearningdesign-ffleet.jpg

Using augmented reality, students can utilize interactive simulations to identify sources of light, understand light's straight-line trajectory, describe the formation of shadows, and explore the concepts of light reflection and refraction.

The Endeavour

Year 4

vrlearningdesign-endeavour.jpg

Can you imagine setting off in a ship to travel to an unknown land on the other side of the world?  An exciting and scary adventure full of risk and danger! In this AR module, walk around The Endeavour, touch points of interest to hear fascinating facts.  Learn about the voyage and those who undertook it.

The First Fleet

Year 4

vrlearningdesign-ffleet.jpg

The ships of the First Fleet had clear orders.  Build a new penal settlement for Britain’s convicts and establish a first colony for Britain. What did they all face on that difficult voyage and then settle in such a different environment? How did it forever change the lives of First Nations peoples? This AR module invites you to explore the Port Jackson settlement and learn the answers to these questions.

Story Maker - English

Foundation to Year 6

vrlearningdesign-storymaker.jpg

Let’s imagine!  Let’s write!  Choose a story scene.  Look all around it.  When you touch an image in the scene, FOUR adjectives will pop up.  Choose the adjective that best describes the image.  Use the adjective in a sentence of your story.  Choose another image and do the same.  Add some illustrations. Give your story a title.

Markers

Some of the Augmented applications are marker based. This allows students to easily identify the content they are working with.  It also allows classes to have multiple activities on the go at the same time.

Augmented Reality Orientation

Foundation to Year 6
3394821840-HEADER_AR-Orentation.jpg

Welcome to the amazing world of Augmented Reality.  This is a first step in learning how to use AR.  Meet the famous original Professor Chip who will explain the different elements of an AR module and how to navigate the AR space.  It is highly recommended that all students use this module so that they can confidently use the software.

Life Cycles

Year 3
vrlearningdesign-lifecycles.jpg

What is the difference between the life cycles of plants, insects and animals?  Students will jump with excitement when they see the chicken, the butterfly and the apple appear before their very eyes!  They will enjoy viewing each of these very different life cycles from different perspectives.

System of planets

Year 6
vrlearningdesign-planets.jpg

Who says you can’t visit planets so far away?  Students explore each of the planets.

They discover new facts about its size, orbit and distance from the Sun. Compare the size of each planet with the Earth.  Watch it move around its orbit.

Circuits

Year 5-6
vrlearningdesign-circuits.jpg

We live in a world where electrical appliances are often taken for granted.  However, what makes them work? Explore the world of circuits.  What are they?  What are the functions of switches, conductors and ammeters?

Livin
g & Non-Living

Year 3
vrlearningdesign-living.jpg

Students identify and classify living and non-living things that are part of their everyday lives.  This Biological Science module is a good starting point for learning about life cycles.  They have three AR scenarios to choose from – camps, ocean and farmyard, each with their own task sheets. Touch each object and decide. Do one or all.

Pyramid Hologram

Year 5
vrlearningdesign-pyramid.jpg

Wow!  Have you ever created a hologram?  Well, now you can!  Use the power of refracted light to see the magical three-dimensional image of the flower, the shark or bird.  Can you explain out how it works?

Force

Year 4
vrlearningdesign-force.jpg

May the forces be with your students!  No, not that story!  This is the one about gravity, magnetism and friction.  In this augmented experience, they will ‘see’ the effect each force exerts on other objects and discuss how humans have harnessed force to change our world.

Fr
actions

Year 4,5,6
vrlearningdesign-fractions.jpg

Pies are much more than just yummy for lunch!  Students will love the 3-D visual representation of different fractions; adding, subtracting pieces of the pies.  They will discover for themselves how this affects the amount of pie that’s left.

English - Creating Text

Year 5
vrlearningdesign-english-text.jpg

Be inspired by the Augmented Reality scenes, inviting you to join the world of stories.   Brainstorm your ideas and apply your writing skills to create a new adventure.

Digital systems

Year 4
vrlearningdesign-digital.jpg

How many times when using our tablets, gaming equipment, ear phones and smart phones do we consider how they work and how they might fit together in a system of digital objects?  We are only interested in what they do for us!  This module allows the students to examine the digital systems and their internal and external peripherals.  They have the chance to answer some of those questions.

Water cycle

Year 4
vrlearningdesign-water.jpg

Where does water come from?  Will we always have enough?  Journey through the water cycle processes, exploring how they each fit to ensure that our Blue Planet thrives and survives.

Hy
giene

Foundation
vrlearningdesign-hygiene.jpg

Why do we wash our hands?  Recent circumstances have without doubt raised our adult awareness of the importance of handwashing for keeping healthy and safe.  Our students have heard the handwashing message many times.  This module is a chance for them to think more deeply about the significance of this safety message and its application to their lives.

Air engine

Year 6
vrlearningdesign-airengine.jpg

A real machine in action!  Students listen to the description of each part of the machine.  They see the different parts made from different materials. They ask: What does each part do to make the machine work?  What might happen if it broke down?  They imagine: What kind of new machine would I make?  What would it do?

Materials & Systems

Year 6
vrlearningdesign-materials.jpg

Watch the Wonky Spider creep across your screen.  How do its legs work?  How is it powered?  How do its components fit together?  Examine the materials that have been used.  Learn about technologies and how they can be used to develop solutions.
